description The three reservable group sites at Onion Creek are very popular with families and groups spending the day rafting on the Colorado or exploring Onion Creek. Sites A and B are ideal for small family gatherings or weddings and are not near the river. Site A has a horse corral and trails nearby. Within close proximity to national parks and open space, outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy hiking, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, and four-wheel drive tours in the surrounding area. The town of Moab is approximately 45 minutes away and has dining, shopping, sports rentals, tour companies and museums.
drivingDirection From Moab, drive north to Highway 128, turn right on 128. Between mile markers 21 and 22 you will see the sign marking the Onion Creek road. Turn right and go about a half a mile. The group areas are on the left side of the road. For Lower Onion Creek, the road is about 22 miles up Highway 128 directly across from the Fisher Towers road. The group area is about a half a mile down the dirt road.
facilitiesDescription Group areas have fire grates, picnic tables, vault toilets and shade shelters. The group sites do not have water, dump stations or electric hook ups. Lower Onion Creek has a boat ramp in the campground. Site A has a horse corral.

importantInformation Gusty winds are possible so always secure your tents and camping gear. Ravens, chipmunks and other wildlife frequent the sites; never leave food out. Summer thunderstorms can cause flash flooding and gusty winds; stay aware of current weather. Annual, Senior and Access passes do not apply to group site fees. There are no showers, electricity, dump stations or drinking water at these sites but they are available in the town of Moab. nearbyAttrctionDescription There are many hiking trails and viewpoints along Highway 128. The Fisher Towers area offers hiking, rock climbing and scenic vistas. Onion Creek is about 30 minutes from Arches National Park and 45 minutes from Canyonlands National Park.

orientationDescription Onion Creek is located along scenic Highway 128. The views from the campsites are incredible and include Fisher Towers, Castle Valley and the Colorado River. At Onion Creek sites A and B, visitors can access Onion Creek and from the Lower Onion Creek site you are on the edge of the Colorado River.
